Sending a Trade Request (COPY)

The first step in trading EDI is to set up a Trade Partnership in Orderful. Trade Request is a request you will send to your partner's ISA ID in order to kick off partnership testing.

Step 1: Navigate to Trade Requests

  1. Log in to Orderful.
  2. Use the left-hand navigation bar and click on “Trade Requests.”
  3. Click the “Create New” button to initiate a new trade request.

Step 2: Select Your Trade Partner

You will be prompted to select your trading partner. Here's how:

  • Search for Your Partner: Use the search bar to look up your partner by name or by ISA ID.
  • Popular/Pre-Configured Partners: Partners appearing in the search results are likely pre-configured in the Orderful network. These partners have digitized requirements, making them easier to set up. They typically come with:
    • Default transaction types
    • Predefined communication channels

📘

Pro Tip:

Large partners often use multiple ISA IDs, each specific to different programs or divisions. Be sure to select the one that matches your business case.

Partner Not Found?

  • If your partner isn’t listed, click on “Don't see your retail program?”
  • This allows you to add a new out-of-network partner, initiating a manual setup.

Step 3: Define Partner Options

Once your partner is selected, you'll configure partnership-specific options:

ISA ID Selection
Choose the ISA ID you want to use for sending the partnership request (if you have more than one registered).

Partnership Role

  • Leader: You define the transaction types and trading guidelines.
  • Follower: You follow the guidelines defined by your partner.

Testing Type (Managed Testing Services Only)

  • New Partnership: No prior EDI exchange with this partner.
  • Migrating Partnership: You currently exchange EDI with this partner but are transitioning to Orderful from another provider.

Step 4: Set Your Go-Live Date

  • Go-Live Date: (Managed Testing Services Only) This is also referred to as the Production Deadline.
  • Choose the date by which you aim to begin receiving production EDI transactions from your partner on Orderful.

Step 5: Add Partnership Contacts

You’ll need to specify contact information to streamline onboarding communications:

  • Primary Contact Email: If not already pre-filled, enter the main contact for your partner.
  • Optional Additional Contacts:
    • Partner’s EDI team
    • Buyer or procurement lead
    • Members of your own team to be cc’d on communications

In some cases, your trade partner's email will already have a default in our network, and we will not require it. You can still use the "additional contacts to carbon copy" in the request.

Final Check & Submit

Once all fields are completed:

  • Review your entries for accuracy
  • Click “Create Trade Request” to send the trade request to your partner
  • A success screen will identify if we need additional info, if you can accept program defaults, or if our team will process the request on your behalf.

Self-Service vs Managed Testing Services

If the Orderful Service level you have purchased includes Managed Testing Services our team will automatically process your trade request by reaching out to your partner to set up and test a connection. You will be included in the correspondence for each trade request, and we will keep you up to date with progress.

If you have purchased the Self-Service level you can proceed with following:

A trade request goes both ways, so you'll need to send your partner the details on the left of this table, and request the details on the right of the table.
